I Cooked a Corn Dog in my Toaster Oven

04.10.2014 by Amy //

I Cooked A Corn Dog In My Toaster OvenMy kids and I all enjoy eating corn dogs every now and then. Today I was getting hungry and pulled out a frozen corn dog from the freezer. I started to put it in the microwave to cook, as I always do, when I stopped. At that very moment it dawned on me that I could cook it in the toaster oven, and I wondered how it would taste when compared to being cooked in the microwave.

Let me just say that I am amazed at the difference! The breading on corn dogs cooked in the microwave ends up being chewy in a bad way, and the hot dog is often cracked and/or dried out.

But a corn dog cooked in my Breville BOV800XL toaster oven was a completely different animal! The breading was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The hot dog was hot, but not at all dry. And it tasted so much better! I have to say that the corn dog I just ate while writing this was the best tasting corn dog I’ve ever had.

Yes, it took longer to cook in the toaster oven, but now that I know the difference in texture and taste I will be sure to cook my next one in there, too.

Oh no! I didn’t include the setting I used when I wrote this, did I? Sorry about that! I used the “Roast” setting at 350 degrees for 18 minutes. What I did was follow the instructions on the box for an oven and it worked fine. I hope this helps.

I agree! We don’t often eat corn dogs in my home but when we do, I cook them like this now.
